Smiles With His Familia

While spending some time in Mexico City with my family, we knew that it would be pretty hard to navigate through the heavy traffic there.

Because of that, we had to get rides around the city, and one of the men who helped us with this was named Moises.

He spoke only a bit of English, and my Spanish is not great, so I had to rely on a bit of Google Translate to spark a conversation.

Moises said he’s from Mexico City and has always lived there, being one of nine siblings.

He’s been a taxi driver for 25 years, which explained how he was so good at navigating through traffic.

Driving does get tiring sometimes, though, so Moises also spends time going for walks or playing sports.

Without a doubt, Moises said that his favorite part about life in Mexico City is the food.

Specifically, authentic enchiladas always hit the spot for him.

What brings him joy?

Since most of his family lives in Mexico City with him, Moises said that they bring him the most joy.

His brother, whom we met, drives taxis as well, so Moises works with him fairly often.

Also, Moises’ two sons are both in college, but they both go to school in the city.

Because of that, they live with Moises and see him every day before school, and having them in his life always makes him smile.

I told him that since I’ve been working on college applications, having to leave home has been on my mind, so I thought it was cool that they still get to spend time together!
